The mission of the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament (SSS) in the Diocese of Khammam began through the pioneering efforts of Fr. Vinay Joseph SSS. Initially appointed as a formator in the Minor Seminary, he later received the responsibility from the Bishop to spread the charism and Eucharistic spirituality of the congregation throughout the diocese. This marked the beginning of the SSS mission in Khammam Diocese.

Fr. Vinay Joseph SSS became the pioneer in introducing Eucharistic spirituality in the diocese. Through his reflections and preaching in the Bishop’s House, he shared the teachings of Saint Peter Julian Eymard and inspired many priests and faithful. One of the quotations of St. Peter Julian Eymard was later placed before the chapel in the Bishop’s House as a sign of the growing influence of the SSS charism.

He further spread Eucharistic spirituality through an interview on Divyavaani TV in the Telugu language. Through this interview and his preaching during diocesan Jubilee celebrations, the Eucharistic mission and identity of the congregation became known throughout the diocese.

A new chapter in the history of the SSS mission began on 01 October 2025, when Fr. Vinay Joseph SSS took charge as the temporary Parish Priest of Kothalingala. The parish, located in a forest region with difficult pastoral conditions, consisted of six substations and around two hundred Catholic families.

At the time of his arrival, several substations had been neglected for many years. Fr. Vinay became the first priest to restore regular Eucharistic celebrations in all six substations. Through constant family visits and pastoral care, he revived the spiritual life of the parish and strengthened communion among the faithful.

One of the historic achievements of Fr. Vinay Joseph SSS was the restructuring of the parish leadership. For nearly twenty years, the same church elders remained in authority. Within three months, he successfully appointed new elders, bringing renewal and new leadership to the parish community.

Fr. Vinay also united the six substations as one parish family by bringing them together for major liturgical celebrations such as Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Vigil. This created a strong spirit of unity and belonging among the faithful.

Another milestone in the history of the parish was the establishment of the Legion of Mary by Fr. Vinay Joseph SSS. Around fifty women joined the movement, making it one of the important developments in the parish.

The missionary vision of Fr. Vinay Joseph SSS later expanded toward Brahmanapally, one of the oldest Catholic communities in the region. Recognizing its pastoral importance, the Bishop of Khammam officially entrusted Brahmanapally to the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament under the care of Fr. Vinay Joseph SSS.

Thus, the history of the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament in the Diocese of Khammam began through the pioneering missionary spirit, Eucharistic vision, and pastoral dedication of Fr. Vinay Joseph SSS.
